It is very common to be overwhelmed and exhausted when you have a newborn. Many mothers will get a case of cabin fever. Discuss with your Obstetrician what exercise is safe for you. Even a short walk can alleviate a lot of stress you may be feeling.
It is ok and recommended for new mom’s to ask for help…and nap! Try to take a nap when the baby is sleeping. If you are fortunate enough to have family and friends who want to help you, let them. A seasoned grandmother can offer sage advice as they have survived what you are going through now. Ask the baby’s father to help with diaper changes and holding and/or feeding the baby. This gives you a break and allows the father to have some quality bonding time with the baby.
Allow others to help you during this time. When your baby is 2 years old, no one will care if you’ve had a nap or eaten recently!
